Frequently asked questions

About us and how ordering works

Do you sell to riders?

No. We're B2B only. If you're a rider looking for one helmet, we're not your supplier, and we'd rather say that on the first line than take an order we can't serve well. Our buyers are importers, distributors, moto shops, riding schools, courier fleets and brands putting their own name on our helmets.

Where are your factories?

Three clusters in China. Yueqing in Zhejiang covers helmet shells, EPS liners, paint and decals. Foshan in Guangdong handles bags, covers and phone mounts, and runs the drop-ship line for sample-size orders. Xuzhou in Jiangsu does the heavier textile work, mostly rain suits and riding jackets, and that textile group alone runs six partner plants. All long-term partners, all working from one catalogue and one QA team.

What do you actually make?

155 SKUs. Helmets are 95 of them: motocross 53, flip-up modular 23, full face 10, half 8, adventure 1. Twelve of those carry a built-in LED brake light, and 30-plus take a dual visor. The rest is rainwear, covers, riding armour, gloves, phone mounts, bags and accessories.

Do you have a catalogue and a price list?

The 2026 catalogue is a PDF and every product card carries a SKU code, MG0001 through MG0155. Prices we don't publish, because the number depends on quantity, artwork and packaging. Reference points: EXW runs from 0.75onsmallaccessoriesto0.75onsmallaccessoriesto32 on the top helmet lines. Send us the SKU list and we quote within one working day.

What's the smallest order you'll take?

300 helmets per style per colour. Below that the decal setup and the line scheduling don't work, so we don't pretend otherwise. Accessories and rainwear go lower, because the tooling is cheaper, and those lines work on a minimum order value of 500to500to1,500 rather than a unit count. Samples run to five pieces, and the sample fee is credited against your first production order.

MOQ, pricing and payment

How does your tiered pricing work?

Five tiers on a single style. T1 is 300 pieces at list price, then T2 through T5 come with 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% off as volume climbs. The breakpoints above T1 differ by product value band, because a 2visoranda2visoranda30 helmet don't need the same order size to be worth running. Your quote carries the exact breakpoints for the SKUs you asked about, so you can price the next step yourself.

Can I get a bigger discount?

Sometimes, but not by asking twice. There's a 15% margin floor under every quote. If the discount you need puts us under it, we decline, and we have declined buyers we'd worked with for over a year. Two of our entry motocross models already sit under that floor at list price, so they carry no discount at any tier. They exist to bring a buyer in the door, and the margin comes back on the visors, gloves, mounts and bags loaded behind them. High-margin lines have more room than helmets do, so if your budget is tight, we'd rather move the product mix than cut a helmet price that has nothing left to give.

What are your payment terms?

30% deposit, 70% against the B/L copy, for orders under $20k. Above that we'll talk about a letter of credit. We don't do open account for new buyers, whatever the order size. In currencies that move hard against the dollar, quotes are USD-denominated with a seven-day validity window and an exchange-rate clause in the contract.

How long is a quote valid?

Seven to fourteen days. Raw material prices and freight move, and we'd rather re-quote than quietly change a number after you've built your own margin on top of it.

Is there a first-order incentive?

Pick one, not both: 3% off the first order, or the sample fee waived and credited. We don't stack them. Free sample sets are available to high-intent buyers within a quarterly budget of eight; past that the fee is standard and still credited against the first production order.

Do you work with agents and commission buyers?

Yes, on a different structure. Instead of a marked-up price you get the factory price plus 2% to 5% commission. We don't run both models on one deal, and we don't extend credit on commission deals.

Customisation, private label and samples

Can you put my logo on a helmet?

That's most of what we do. Paint, decals, screen print, UV print, hardware, liner, packaging, and your own size labels in your own sizing system. Every decal we lay goes under the clear coat, so it reads as part of the shell rather than something stuck on top of it.

What's the difference between your OEM and ODM service?

OEM means you bring the artwork and we build to it. ODM means you start from our 95 models and 48 motocross graphics and we put your brand on them. ODM is faster and cheaper and gets you selling inside a season. Most buyers use it to find out which model sells, then move that one model to full OEM in year two.

How much does private label add to the price?

Roughly 10% to 15% over the same helmet in white. It breaks into three parts, all itemised on the quote: base helmet price, printing cost, packaging cost. Setup is charged once per design, not per order, so a reorder costs less than the first run did.

What artwork files do you need?

Vector (AI, EPS, PDF) for logos, 300dpi or better for photographic artwork. If all you have is a JPG, send it anyway and we'll tell you honestly whether it holds up at helmet scale. Sometimes it does. More often it doesn't, and it's cheaper to hear that before we print 300 units.

How long does a sample take, and what does it cost?

15 days from artwork approval, delivered. There's a sample fee, credited against your first production order. Artwork revisions before sampling are free. If you change the model or the shell after sampling, the clock restarts and the sample fee is no longer credited, because both the print setup and the shell have to be redone.

Can you match a specific colour?

Yes. Send a hex code, a Pantone reference, or a physical sample by post. For matte and metal flake finishes, send the physical sample. Screen calibration lies, and we'd rather not argue about it after production.

Certification and compliance

Are your helmets ECE or DOT certified?

One model is tested, the rest are in progress, and we'll be specific about which is which. Motocross model 225 holds an SGS test report to FMVSS 218 (GZHL2308029790HM-1, December 2023) and a CE Certificate of Compliance to PPE 2016/425/EU with EN 1078:2012 (CTG2511198399B-SC156AO, November 2025). The other 94 helmet models hold no European or US test report. ECE 22.06 type approval is running now on the full-face flagship and the modular line, targeted Q2 2027, with DOT behind it on the roadmap. SNI for Indonesia, SONCAP for Nigeria, INMETRO for Brazil, NTC for Colombia and QCVN for Vietnam follow at roughly one a quarter.

Can you call your helmets CE certified for motorcycles?

No, and this is the distinction worth being precise about, because a lot of suppliers are loose with it. EN 1078 covers pedal cycle, skateboard and roller skate helmets. Motorcycle helmets in the EU fall under UNECE Regulation No. 22 and sit outside the PPE directive. What we hold on model 225 is a PPE 2016/425/EU Certificate of Compliance to EN 1078, which supports off-road and sports use and does not make a helmet road-legal in Europe. If your market is the EU and you need road-legal helmets, ECE 22.06 is the file you're waiting for, the same as us.

Can I still order helmets for a market that requires certification?

Depends on the market and on you. Some buyers run testing locally through their own agent, and for those orders we supply the samples, the technical files and the factory access the lab needs. Other markets we won't ship to without a certificate, including orders we'd otherwise have liked to take. We'll tell you which one yours is at the quote stage, not after the deposit. Model 225 is the one helmet where the test file already exists, so it's the natural starting point if your market accepts an EN 1078 or an FMVSS 218 document for off-road use.

Do you provide the documents I need to import?

Yes: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and the test reports we hold for that specific SKU. If your customs broker wants something else, tell us what it is and we'll say plainly whether we can produce it.

Can I see the certificates before I order?

Yes, and we'd rather you asked. They ship as a PDF pack with the quote: the SGS FMVSS 218 report, the CE certificate and the EN 1078 test report, the six RoHS verifications, the ISO 9001 certificate and the two Chinese rain suit reports. Every file is a scan of the original with the issuing lab's stamp. If something in there doesn't match what your market requires, bring it up. We'd rather find the gap at the quote stage than in customs.

What about the non-helmet lines?

They're better covered than the helmets are. Riding suits and covers sourced from our Xuzhou factory group, across six partner plants, are verified to RoHS 2011/65/EU and (EU)2015/863 under the IEC 62321 methods. Two rain suit styles carry Chinese national test reports to GB 18401-2010 Class C and QB/T 4999-2016. What we don't hold on that side yet is EN 343 for waterproofing, EN 13594 for gloves and EN 1621-1 for armour. If your buyer asks for those numbers specifically, tell us and we'll say where it stands rather than field a claim we can't back.

Do you help with factory audits?

We host them. One of our Xuzhou plants holds ISO 9001:2015, certificate 48925Q0587R0S, valid to December 2028 and supervised annually. Read the scope before you rely on it: it covers selling car covers, raincoats and windbreakers, which is narrower than manufacturing and does not cover helmets at all. We'll send you the certificate so you can check that yourself. For third-party audits (SGS, BV, Intertek, TUV) we'll schedule it, open the factory records and let the auditor pull the sample off the line. We don't choose what they see. Social compliance audits take longer to arrange, so flag it early if you need one.

Lead time, packaging and shipping

How long is production?

30 days from deposit on standard orders. The stretch ahead of Chinese New Year runs longer, and we'll tell you by how much rather than promise a date we can't hold. If you want a December container and you're ordering in August, ask for the honest date. It won't be the one you want, but it will be the one that happens.

What Incoterms do you work on?

EXW is our standard, quoted from the factory gate. We can quote FOB, which adds inland transport and port charges of roughly 1.5% to 3% of goods value. We don't quote DDP.

Do you arrange the freight?

Only if you want us to. We work with four forwarders we've used for years and will hand your booking to one of them, or you can use your own. Either way the rule is the same: a tracking number that updates within 24 hours of vessel departure, or we stop using them.

Can I mix products in one container?

That's how most of our buyers ship. Helmet lines carry the volume, and accessories and small high-margin goods fill the cube behind them. We'll build the loading plan and send you the container calculator so you can check the numbers yourself. An LCL shipment usually starts around 3kofgoods;a20GPstartsmakingsenseatabout3kofgoods;a20GPstartsmakingsenseatabout8k.

How is the packaging done?

Polybag or cloth bag, a colour box with your artwork if you want one, hang tag, manual in your language, and your barcode and SKU on the carton. Cartons get marked to your instruction. Tell us if the box sits on a retail shelf rather than going straight into a warehouse, because that changes what we specify.

Quality, after-sales and long-term partnership

How do you control quality?

Four checkpoints before anything ships: incoming material (ABS, EPS, webbing, hardware), in-process (injection, paint, printing, assembly), finished goods, and pre-shipment. Sampling follows ISO 2859-1, with AQL 1.0 on critical defects, 2.5 on major and 4.0 on minor. A QC report travels with every shipment: unit count, weight, carton count, dimensions, photos of the run, and any defects found in the batch.

What happens if something arrives defective?

Tell us within 30 days of arrival with photos or video and the SKU code. If it's a manufacturing fault, you get replacement units in your next order or a credit note, your choice. If it's five units out of 2,000, we still want to hear about it, because that's how a fault becomes a pattern. We don't take returns of shipped goods. We make the next order right instead.

Do you offer exclusivity?

On a framework agreement, once you're above roughly $100k a year or committing to a regional programme. You get exclusive colourways and price protection for the term. We ask for a volume commitment, because exclusive colourways cost us other buyers in that market.

Can I visit the factories?

Yes, and about a third of our buyers do before the first large order. Yueqing is roughly an hour from Wenzhou airport. Foshan is about 40 minutes from Guangzhou South railway station by metro. Give us two weeks' notice so the factory can have your samples ready and the line supervisor in the room, instead of just a salesperson.

Do you keep my design confidential?

Yes, and it's written down rather than implied. We sign an NDA before artwork files change hands, and a graphic we develop for you is not offered to another buyer in your territory. If the artwork setup is paid for, that design is yours in your market for as long as you're ordering it.

Why shouldn't I just go to a bigger factory?

Because at 300 units they won't take your call. Large factories optimise for large orders, and many in this industry have moved their minimum up to 1,000 units and their lead time out to 60 days. That's fine if you're filling containers and useless if you're testing a market. MOSA GEAR is built for the second case. It's the whole reason the company exists.
